[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Alex Louis Armstrong, also known as Major Armstrong and the Strong Arm Alchemist.
Age: Around 35-40
Gender: Male
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Timeline: After Chapter 83 (i.e. after Olivia beats him in a duel and inherits the Armstrong Family House)
History: Found here, under the heading "Manga".
Character Personality:
The first thing most people will notice about Alex, is that he's loud, energetic, and very emotional. He will burst into tears of happiness or sadness at the drop of a hat, give overflowing praise for courageous or moving acts performed by others, and enthusiastically hug people when he thinks they need comforting. (Unfortunately, people don't usually appreciate these hugs, as Alex tends to end up squishing people with his powerful muscles in the process).
Alex is also very proud of his heritage, his physique, and his body. And he's not shy about displaying his body either - he will frequently remove his shirt (often leaving others to wonder when he took it off), to display his impressive muscles to all. As he takes great joy in his muscular body, he believes that others will also take great joy in viewing them. Alas, this isn't always the case.
But even though Alex often appears comical, he can be very serious. He sees it as his duty to use his strength to protect others, and he is utterly serious about carrying out that duty. He will always look out for hie subordinates, his friends, and even innocent bystanders who he knows nothing about, but who he believes he must protect.
He dislikes violence immensely, and he will always attempt to resolve things peacefully. If others are killed needlessly, Alex will get emotionally distressed about this, particularly if he things he could have done something to prevent it. In the past, he has struggled with his desire to avoid violence and the violent nature of the military, when he had a break-down during the Ishbal war. However, Alex is deeply ashamed of the fact that he ran from conflict before - because he believes that what he should have done is not run, but stay and use his strength to right what was wrong. He has resolved that in the future, he will not run.
Character Abilities:
As a State Alchemist, Alex possesses formidable alchemy ability (which has been passed down through generations of the Armstrong family!). He transmutes through the use of two metal gauntlets with transmutation circles on the back - when he punches any solid object with them, he is able to reshape it.
This makes particularly impressive combat alchemy, as Alex is able to make large stone spikes, walls, fissures in the ground, or other objects very quickly. He can also make heavy artillery, by transforming substances such as stone into sharp projectiles (such as arrowheads), which he launches with his punch. Usually, when Alex transforms anything, he also transforms it into a sculpture of himself. And his muscles.
To complement his alchemy style, Alex has a formidable hand-to-hand combat style, centered around punches. He is physically very strong, fit, and of course - muscular.
Alex is also very intelligent - not just in terms of understanding alchemy, but also in terms of interpreting situations. He is astute, and for all his larger-than-life personality, he is fully capable of being subtle - such as when he passes on information to Mustang without ever saying anything directly.
He is also has exceptional drawing skills - passed down through the generations! - and can easily track a person without being seen with the Armstrong Family Stalking Technique (despite his large size).
Character Weaknesses:
For all his strength, there is an element of fragility to Alex's character. Because he it so strongly empathetic, the harming of others hurts him deeply, once to the point where he has an emotional breakdown. And if he feels that he has failed, this will hurt him even more.
He also often puts other people off, by suddenly removing his shirt to display his muscles, or trying to hug people too enthusiastically.
[ MEISTER SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Meister:
Alex has impressive combat skills, and is used to fighting at the front line. He is fully capable of wielding a weapon, much like how he uses his gauntlets and his alchemy as a weapon. As such, he his much better suited to using his physical capabilities as a Meister.
Also, if he were a Weapon, he would deny others the chance to view his beautiful body in combat!
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Soul Description:
Emotional, Proud, Peaceful, Protective, Astute, Strong
Soul Appearance:
Behold, the beauty of his soul!
[ SAMPLES ]
First Person:
[video - a large man with a blonde mustache and one single curl on his otherwise bald hear appears. Tears stream down his face and - is that a pink sparkle next to his head?]
I have heard of your struggles, dear citizens of Death City! You shall toil under the fear and terror of these witches no longer! I, ALEX LOUIS ARMSTRONG, WILL USE ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO DEFEND THE GOOD PEOPLE OF THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY!
[Alex flexes, and suddenly his shirt disintegrates, leaving you with full view of his beautiful, sparkling muscles!]
Third Person:
War.
Alex had hoped never to see war again. War brought about the darkest time of his life.
The time of his shame. The time when he did not live up to the Armstrong Family standards. The time when he ran again.
But whether in this world and the world back home, war was inevitably going to be a part of Alex's life once again.
He rose to stand at the window, watching as the people of Death City walked by. They reminded him of the people of Amestris - merely wishing to go on with their life. In peace, free from terror or pain or hatred. These people needed him. He owed them his protection, because he was stronger. Because it was in his power.
But his people back home needed him too. What would happen to Central, when the conflict began again, and he was not there to protect the citizens? Who would fight for them?
Ah. Yes. Of course. Colonel Mustang, and his men. Sister. Their allies.
Alex would have to hope that they would have the strength to protect Amestris while he was gone. The strength to do what was right.
He knew that they would not run. Not like he had done.
But Alex Louis Armstrong would not run again. He would not shame himself twice. He would not turn from this struggle.
He would not leave this city without a protector.
